Chemical Peels
Now that you’re using great skin care products and laying a sound foundation for beautiful skin, you may be wondering what else you can do to improve your skin’s texture and appearance. Chemical peels are an excellent way to minimize fine lines, wrinkles and uneven pigmentation without injections or surgery.
Chemical peels enhance the skin’s texture and appearance by chemically removing the damaged outer layers of the skin and can promote collagen production which will increase your skin’s elasticity. Chemical peels are a liquid mixture of varying acids that are applied to the skin and agitate the skin to promote sloughing of older damaged layers of the skin. After two to three days your skin will begin “peeling” as though you received a mild sunburn, thus the term “chemical peel.” The peeling will last anywhere from a couple of days to a week, depending upon the intensity of the solution. There are a variety of chemical peels to choose from. Each peel targets specific “trouble areas” and has varying levels of “peeling.”
